From Lisanne: My friend says Steve Burns,
the old Blues Clues host, is coming out with an album. Is this just a
rumor, like the one about how he once overdosed on drugs?
Or like the one
about how Paul Pfeiffer from The Wonder Years grew up to be Marilyn
Manson? Or the one about a certain female Young and the Restless star
who, the rumor goes, used to be a man? Or how Tom Green was fired from
MTV for crashing a bar mitzvah dressed as Hitler? Those wacky urban
legends! They're all untrue, and Burns didn't O.D., but he is about to
make his rock debut.
On August 12,
Burns releases Songs for Dustmites (Pias), a fairly rockin'
collection of pop-heavy tunes, with titles like "What I Do on Saturday,"
"A Sniveling Mess" and the first single, "Mighty Little Man." And while
it is still a bit disconcerting to see Steve sans green-striped shirt
and sporting some grubby facial fur, his CD is a pretty infectious
effort, which comes with production assistance from Flaming Lips drummer
Steven Drozd and Lips producer Dave Fridmann. You can sample Steve's
sweet sounds, as well as the video for the autobiographical "Mighty
Little Man," at the
official Burns
Website.
