Steve Burns

Actor and co-creator of the children's television program 'Blue's Clues'
Steve Burns probably could have rode the success of the program for
decades, but instead Burns had himself written out of the show and has
bravely embarked on a new career in music. Working with Flaming Lips
drummer Steve Drozd, bassist Michael Ivins and noted producer (and
frequent Lips collaborator Dave Fridmann) gave Burns some instant indie
credibility, but the tunes he recorded on his debut record 'Songs For
Dustmites' prove that Blue's old pal has plenty of talent at his
disposal. The 2003 album scored unanimously positive reviews, leaving
critics wondering what else the actor-turned-rocker might have up his
sleeve.
Burns will be joined at this Bottom of the Hill show by a local
songwriter Kelly Stoltz, who has garnered solid reviews of his own with
a brand of home-recorded psychedelia. Stoltz's debut effort 'Past Was
Faster' has garnered comparisons to such outsider icons as Captain
Beefheart, Tom Waits and Syd Barrett. James Leste and DJ Ted E. Bear
will also be appearing.
