When Steve Burns left the popular children's show "Blue's Clues," he traded blue dogs and anthropomorphic furniture for Flaming Lips and dust mites. Burns, who performs at 10 p.m. Sunday at the Green Door, 329 E Sheridan, made his alternative rock debut last year with "Songs for Dustmites," a grand concept album about nanotechnology. Working with Lips drummer Steven Drozd and producer Dave Fridmann, Burns took an ambitious leap with songs such as "Troposphere" and "Mighty Little Man," and his live show is a thoroughly engaging multimedia experience.

For unsuspecting parents thinking of taking their little "Blue's Clues" fans, remember these phrases: "10 p.m. on a school night," "loud alternative rock" and "Green Door." For more information, call 236-0070.
