In a story too ridiculous to be made up, Steve Burns, former host of the
kiddie show Blue's Clues, is in the studio with Flaming Lips drummer
Steven Drozd, Lips bassist Michael Ivins, and producer Dave Fridmann working
on a record to be called Songs for Dustmites. Burns even has a few
tracks posted on his web page, if you don't believe us! The songs have a
definite Soft Bulletin/Deserter's Songs feel to them, and frankly,
aren't half bad. It seems that Drozd is helping with the music, Ivin's
engineering, and Fridmann is producing.
Steve Burns hosted the wildly popular kids' show from 1996 until 2001.
Although many assume the show was his creation, he was in fact just a hired
actor chosen to play the part. Since leaving the show, Steve has been
spending a great deal of his time working on Songs for Dustmites, and
the rest of his time counting his money and laughing. Steve's web page,
which is interesting to say the least, features pictures of the sessions and
promises updates on the project. |
