About Steve-n-steveN: One day,
while searching everywhere for Princess Rainbow, a lonely unicorn
named Steve Burns met a magical musical octopus named Steven Drozd
in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. "Hi," said Steve to Steven. "I like
writing stories about outer space, wizards, and feelings." "That's
cool," said Steven to Steve while playing a bass guitar, Micro Moog
synthesizer, and two Stylophones simultaneously.
"I like to make
brain burning musical soundscapes. Maybe you could add your stories
to my music." "Okay", answered Steve, "let's always do that right
here in Oklahoma and never in New York City." And that's just what
they did... for all us children.

The Vet Who Did Not Vet A Dr. Seuss style telling of the McCain
and Palin tale
Words: Adam Peltzman Pictures: Dave Palmer Narration:Steve Burns Music & Sound: Nick Balaban, Nathaniel Reichman, Larry Wineland Editing: David Bouffard
A few weeks ago my wife and I were driving some Obama volunteers back
to New York after a day of canvassing in Philadelphia. One of the
volunteers announced, quite proudly, "I have a new nickname for John
McCain and Sarah Palin – the vet and the unvetted!" Being a writer, I
said, "Hey…do you mind if I use that?" So the next day I started writing
a little poem. It was a cathartic exercise to say the least. I
approached an artist friend and asked if he’d draw some pictures - maybe
just four or five to go with the text?
But it seems like there’s no such thing as halfway when it comes to
feelings about this election. My friend disappeared for a week or two,
and when he came out of hiding he had a picture for every rhyme…and the
pictures moved! I contacted a voice-over artist friend, who has some
serious street cred when it comes to children’s stories, and he jumped
at the chance to narrate. I asked a musician I know to give me a simple
music box melody – "It should take you 10 minutes." Two days later he
delivered a detailed score. A video editor volunteered to move footage
around. A sound mixer called and asked if his friend, a sound effects
editor, could add some "explosions and stuff."
In the real world, nobody wants to work for free. But in a world
where Sarah Palin could be president, good luck keeping Joe the Animator
and Joe the Musician and Joe the Explosion Effect Specialist away from
their tools of the trade.

favorite holiday, Groundhog Day, is in jeopardy when the new groundhog,
Gertrude, is too shy to get things started and hides in the clubhouse,
afraid of all the attention focused on her. Jon Stewart guest stars. The
Laurie Berkner Band performs "Sneaks", while Steve Burns and
Steven Drozd play "I Hog the Ground."
--------------------------------------------- Everyone is looking to Jack,
Mary and Mel for help. Gertrude the Groundhog is full of stage fright
and hiding in the Clubhouse. While anchorman Brunk Stinegrouber (Jon
Stewart) needs her outside so he can report the news! Can our trio get
these two together?

--------------------------------------------- In "Groundhog Day," Jack is
excited for his favorite holiday, Groundhog Day, and he can't wait to
find out if Gertrude the Groundhog will see her shadow or not. But the
scared groundhog runs into the clubhouse because she's too shy to face
all of the people and cameras outside. Jack and the gang learn this is
Gertrude's first Groundhog Day as the groundhog that everyone gathers
around to see. Brunk Stinegrouber (JON STEWART) from the Groundhog News
Network reports on whether Gertrude the Groundhog will face her fears
and finally step out of the clubhouse. This episode features new music
videos by The Laurie Berkner Band and Steven Drozd and Steve Burns.

"Dead" video update... Alot of
people have been getting in touch with me, asking about the video for
Steve Burns' "Dead". It's being edited... well, technically animated...
and it's a rather large undertaking for only 2 people. Take into account
our respective 9-5 employment status. It's all nights, people. But it's
coming along nicely. The time consuming part of this all is really just
rendering everything. The video is like an onion. It's made up of
several layers... Okay, bad analogy. But there are alot of things going
on, with a virtual camera, and a stack of TV's, and many Steve's. Hope I
didn't give anything away. Anyhow, it shouldn't be too much longer, and
then "Hello Radio: the songs of TMBG" & the video for "Dead" will be put
out into the world. Hang tight everybody.

CHRISTMAS ON MARS
(Release Date)
The Flaming Lips' own
long-awaited feature film, CHRISTMAS ON MARS is tentatively
scheduled for release mid-2006. -- The Flaming Lips

NEWS NEWS NEWS: OKAY- So, by
now everyone can see that we're behind our intended release date for
this tribute album. So, to keep ya'll from wondering what's going on,
i'll tell ya - it's like this. Scheduling. People (mainly artists who've
expressed an interest in participating) are busy. The end. We're now
looking at a fall release. Patience is important. And believe me, nobody
is as excited about this album as we are. But, as long as there is time
on our hands, we're working to make it worth the wait. That means adding
some more artists to the line-up. Artists that are really going to make
people happy -- MM3 records

did you know Steve Burns... if you
LIGHT HIM ON FIRE?!??!?!:
This week, I've begun work on a music
video for Steve Burns (former Nickelodeon icon turned space rock
recording artist).
I shot the first portion on Tuesday, and will
hopefully have a finished video by the first week of July. There's one
more shoot
to be had (without Steve), and the post production is already
underway. The video is for Steve's cover of TMBG's "Dead",
from the
forthcoming album Hello Radio: the songs of They Might Be Giants. --

a little bit of news:
Yesterday, David Miller travelled to the
far reaches of Brooklyn, NY, known only to the natives as "DUMBO"
(Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). It was there that he began
directing a music video for Steve Burns' cover of "Dead", from our
upcoming tribute. Then, everyone had ice cream.

TMBG Tribute update: Steve
Burns - "Dead". Well, officially I've only heard the demo version. But,
it's truely moving. I've no idea how different the final mix will be,
but if this is any indication... it'll knock your socks off. It's a
spacey, somber lullabye.
